Edison, Inc., $1, S/N 000277; and, $2, S/N 000021, denomination depression scrip notes, I/U, Black on green underprint with multiple light pink “Thomas A Edison” signatures overprinted multiple times, similar to his signature and endorsed in purple ink by hand by on the $2 note, Charles Edison, Thomas’s son. The $1 note is hand signed and endorsed by the paymaster. Small text states “Five days after the termination of the Bank Holiday declared by the President of the U.S. of A in his proclamation of March 6, 1933.....payable without interest at any time on or after the maturity hereof at the office of the undersigned at West Orange, NJ”. Also included is a large format check with the N.R.A. and eagle logo in middle with “Now is the time to buy” Edison Check on top. It is dated October 17, 1933 from Orange, NJ. Evidently, the check was given, possibly to Edison employees to spend on something “that you would not have bought”, to stimulate the local economy. Uncirculated condition.
