Introduction to the Sale Foreword On behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, I would like to personally welcome you to our 82nd auction and first auction of 2023. We are excited to offer over 700 lots of rare and desirable U.S., Chinese, & Worldwide Banknotes, Scripophily, Historic Ephemera, and Security Printing Ephemera with many rare items being offered for the first time at auction. Our auction will include many rare and desirable banknotes including in the U.S. section, an extremely rare U.S. Treasury Note, $100 Act of March 4th, 1814 Remainder; as well as a discovery C.S.A., 1864, $10, T-68 double printing error of an inverted back and an inverted underprint on the face. World highlights include the finest known Bank of China, 1912 “Peking” Branch Issue Banknote; an impressive and finest known German Imperial Treasury Note, 1874 Reichskassen- schein, Issued Banknote Rarity; and, many other banknotes and fiscal documents rarely seen at auction. We are also offering rare and desirable numismatic pieces consigned from various estates and longtime collections, with many of them having never been offered previously at auction or are new to the collecting community. The auction will be held in 2 sessions over 1 day, with the first session consisting of over 540 lots of U.S. and World banknotes and the second session offering 181 lots of U.S. & World scripophily. Our next live gallery and live internet auction, AIA Auction# 83, will be held sometime late February to early March 2023.
