The International Banking Corporation was established by Citi Bank in 1901 and 1902, a company chartered to conduct banking business outside the U.S., which was forbidden to U.S. national banks. The Chinese branch of the company, IBC, issued banknotes between 1905 to 1909 at their branches payable in the cities issued including Shanghai, Peking, Harbin, Tientsin, Hankow, and Canton. All of the notes are rare and desirable.
