Group of 6 different Proof Lazy Numeral Banknote Protectors, ca. 1840-50s, Includes: 1; 2 (2), 2 different colors; 3 (2), 2 different colors; and 5, Used as undertint security elements for Obsolete Banknotes in light gray and light green, printed on india paper. These vignettes would be printed horizontally as an underprint security element. Printed by one of the ABN predecessor companies, all are printed on india paper that is unmounted. ND (ca.1860-70’s) lot of 11 different colored denomination counters in black orange, green, brown and blue. All have ornate cycloid engravings with denomination on top. Plate numbers on top are either C-341 or 2041. All are printed on india paper and are intaglio engraved. Rare archival production proofs from ABNC archives. Handwritten letter addressed to Titus Eddy Esq regarding a “note for six hundred dollars ($600)” Signed as Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson. VF to XF condition with light signs of age. Interesting security printer letter. Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson (RWH&E) was one of the most prominent printing and engraving firms in nineteenth-century America.
