Boston, Massachusetts & New York. Lot of 2 handwritten letters, both featuring American Bank Note Co. letterheads at top center. Includes: Boston, MA., July 28th, 1868 letter is from A. Claxton Cary to Titus Eddy & Son, requesting specific supplies, “as we are entirely out” which has been underlined; and, New York. February 18th, 1885 letter is from John E. Currier, Assistant Secretary, also to Titus Eddy & Sons requesting supplies. Both have black handwriting with ABNC company logo and name at top. Both are in VF condition with some signs of aging. (2) Est. $ 200-400 New York 1219 1219 ABN Intaglio Proof Prints Featuring the Declaration of Independence, ca. 1960-1980s New York, Lot of 2 folded sheet with 4 pages on thin and somewhat transparent white paper, intaglio printed, all related to American Bank Note Company vignettes related to the Signing of the Declaration of Independence. One items includes “The unanimous Declaration” with Declaration of Independence text recreated on one side; on the other side includes a very small print of the Declaration of Independence, July 4th, 1770, surrounded by George Washington, John Adams, Great Seal of the United States, as well as the state seals of the thirteen original colonies, with print at top that reads “The work of art below is the complete Declaration of Independence engraved in steel in 1840 by Charles Toppan and printed from plates in the archives of American Bank Note Company.” The second item incudes a large, partially completed portrait of Thomas Paine on one side; on the other features portraits of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Benjamin Bush, John Hancock, Benj. Franklin, Rob Morris, and Roger Sherman, with a pair of prints at center showing some of the men reviewing and signing the Declaration of Independence document.
