Gum still on backs, Brightly colored airlines stickers, Mint condition. Sold “AS IS” no returns accepted. Est. $ 35-70 Ephemera - Aviation Maryland 1183 1183 B ank of Baltimore, State of Maryland, 1802 Notary Public Promissory Note Document Assortment Maryland, 1802. Lot of 3 pieces, all double-sided: All are Promissory Notes (6 total on 3 double sided pages) from Samuel Sterett, Notary Public, each for $2000; $2000; $255.59; $141.67; $220; and $197.34, respectively. Black text with dark brown handwriting. Each promissory note outlines the terms and conditions of the promised payment. VF condition for its age, with slight toning around edges, and rough edges where the pages were torn from a book. Samuel Sterett (1758 - July 12, 1833) was a Representative from the fourth congressional district of Maryland. Sterett was elected to the Maryland State Senate in 1789. Following his service in the State Senate he was elected to the Second Congress (March 4, 1791 - March 3, 1793), during which he also served as secretary of the Maryland Society for Promoting the Abolition of Slavery in 1791. In 1812 Sterett became a member of the Baltimore committee of safety. He also served as captain of an independent company at the Battle of North Point September 12, 1814. Sterett was grand marshal in Baltimore at the laying of the foundation stone of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad on July 4, 1828. Interesting group of documents from early United States history.
