Cleveland, OH. 50 Cents, Wolka 0714-06, Issued scrip note, Cleveland issued city orders in October 1862 to relieve the public of sticky postage stamps which seemed to make up the bulk of emergency alternatives to coinage which had disappeared from circulation. The city authorized $50,000 in these orders and began issuing them to the public on November 5, 1862. Est. $ 25-50 New Jersey 1170 1170 City of Long Branch, 1934 Depression Scrip Note Trio New Jersey, 1934. Lot includes 3 pieces from the City of Long Branch, all are Issued Depression Scrip Notes, all with POCs and an allegorical woman at left: $1 in brown; $5 in gray; and $10 in orange.
