The court ruling resulted in the creation of the Hercules Powder Company (now Hercules Inc.) and the Atlas Powder Company (now AstraZeneca). On January 1, 1919 Bankers Trust Company of New York became trustee of the company and the finances of the company were reorganized. Aetna Explosives tried to hang on, publishing a 156 page book/catalog describing its products and how to use them in 1920. The cover of that book listed thirteen branch offices, nine large plants, and one-hundred and ten distributing stations, but it was all for naught, for in 1921 Aetna Explosives was sold to the Hercules Powder Company, one of the companies formed after the breakup of the Powder Trust.
