Delmonico, who was Charles “Old Charlie” Constant Delmonico. Also included in lot is Proof Vignette for the Delmonico’s restaurant. All of the checks have adhesive 2 Cents revenues with one of them an imperforate 2 Cent Blue Bank Check 1st issue with jumbo margins on 4 sides, Delmonico’s at Beaver St. House is the name of a restaurant that gained a reputation as one of the nation’s top fine dining establishments from the 1830’s until early this century. The birthplace of the widely imitated Delmonico steak, the restaurant is credited with being one of the first American restaurants to allow patrons to order from a menu à la carte, as opposed to table d’hôte. It is also said to be the first to employ a separate wine list. Sold “AS IS” no returns accepted. Phelps, Dodge & Co. was an import-export company which shipped cotton, tin, iron, copper, and other metals for industrial growth and development in the United States.
