Indonesia. Lot of 5 Intaglio or photo proofs of various 1951 and 1953 banknotes produced by Security Banknote Company for Indonesia. The lot includes an intaglio printed block of 4 notes on beige paper of the issued 1953 notes by SBNC. Also includes are 2 different obverse photo proofs of the 1951 issues in the correct banknote size on photo paper with the final designs. Also included are 2 large photos of uncut sheets of obverse and reverse images of the 1951 2 1/2 Rupiah series in sheets of 54 note. All are in AU to Uncirculated condition. Each note in the uncut proof sheet of the 4, 1 Rupiah notes is in AU condition due to a single vertical fold down each note keeping them from Uncirculated. SBNC. Note is dated September 1, 1948; Red specimen overprints, POC’s and Block 1-A - S/N “00000” serial numbers. Small red printing on upper right margin of face reads “ 11-9-48 FA” and back “11-9-48 BC”. Front is brown with Sukarno’s portrait, back is brown with farmer plowing with oxen. Both have “Approved for Production________” unfilled out on the back. The face is PMG graded Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ and the back is graded Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ, Rare essay note. P-Unlisted, Essay specimen banknote of a Security BNC proposed and never issued 1948 Indonesia banknote Series. Note is dated September 1, 1948; Series 1-A. Red specimen overprints, POC’s and “00000” serial numbers. Small red printing on upper right margin of face reads “ 11-9-48 FL” and back “11-9-48 BM”. Front is purple, back is deep blue-black. Back of note has farmer plowing with oxen. Evidently Indonesia did not accept this issue. PMG graded Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ. Rare essay note.
