All have black text with black borders and red writing at right, are in VG to Fine condition with toning, fold lines, and some splitting. 2 Shillings and 6 Pence note has a cut or tear down left side. Signatures includes Samuel Fisher, Mordecai Lewis, and Joseph Allen, among others. Printed by Hall & Sellers. Hall and Sellers was a Philadelphia printing company originally established by Benjamin Franklin. In 1743 Franklin hired David Hall (1714-77), a Scottish journeyman printer, and in 1748 made the latter a partner. The firm printed the Pennsylvania Gazette, Franklin’s newspaper. In 1766 Franklin sold his share in the business to Hall, and later that same year Hall brought in the journeyman printer William Sellers as his new partner, establishing Hall and Sellers. Both have red and black text and are in Fine-VF condition for their age. Printed by Hall and Sellers. Signatures include Joseph Allen, Mordecai Lewis, and Jacob Harman. Lot of 5 Issued banknotes: 5 Shillings, P-S2540D, S/N 22667; 10 Shillings, P-S2540E; 15 Shillings, P-S2540F, S/N 5366; 20 Shillings, P-S2540G S/N 8569; and 50 Shillings, P-S2540H, S/N 20954. Black and red text with black border, Fine condition with some toning and signs of wear. Various signatures includes Owen Jones Jr., Samuel Miles, and Benjamin Morgan, among others. Owen Jones Jr. (1744-1825) was the son of Owen Jones (1711-1793) who was the last provincial treasurer of Pennsylvania before the Revolutionary War. The Jones family were prominent merchants in Philadelphia. Samuel Miles (March 11, 1740 - December 29, 1805) was an American military officer and politician, as well as an influential businessman and politician, active in Pennsylvania before, during, and after the American Revolutionary War. He was the mayor of Philadelphia from 1790-1791. Printed by Hall and Sellers, a Philadelphia printing company originally established by Benjamin Franklin. Lot of 3 Issued banknotes, all are 50 Shillings, P-S2540H, S/Ns are 13647; 9860; and 22273. Black and red text with arms of the Penn family at center left. Choice VF to AU condition and printed by Hall and Sellers. Various signatures includes Benjamin Morgan, Mordecai Lewis, and James Pemberton. James Pemberton (1723–1809) was born in Philadelphia and was a Quaker politician and abolitionist. In 1777, Pemberton was exiled from Pennsylvania to Virginia as a pacifist during the Revolution.
