Document which states the appointment of a member of the 20th Regiment of Militia in the State of New York to the post of Orderly First Sergeant, due to his demonstrated “Patriotism, Courage, and good Conduct.” Black text and handwriting. Issued and signed by David Curtis, Lieutenant Colonel of the same regiment. The name of the appointed militia member, as well as the Captain of the Company, is obscured. Information on New York’s 20th Regiment of Militia in 1816 is extremely scarce. Fine condition with some staining and fragile fold lines. Rare and possibly unique military document relating top the War of 1812. Ohio National Union Party Ticket for the 1864 Presidential Election, with President Abraham Lincoln and Vice-President Andrew Johnson. 3.5 x 8.25 inches, blue text with orange-red design at top center, featuring an eagle, American flags, cannon and cannonballs, a sword, and other elements. Also includes a list of Electors with their corresponding districts. Back features the phrase “Rally round the Flag, Boys!” which was a part of a Lincoln-Johnson campaign song modified from an 1862 patriotic song, “The Battle Cry of Freedom.” Fine - VF condition with a pronounced vertical crease at left, very slight damage along fold lines at top and bottom margins. Lot of 14 pieces, Includes: ca.1920-30’s, Studebaker Corporation Specimen pair, both <100 Shares, one green and the other brown; 2 large size real photographs, one with a Model 9502 Studebaker Gasoline Car from 1904 and a photo showing almost every model of Studebaker since 1899 to 1956; a 1940-50’s Studebaker-Packard Corp. group of 3 specimens, all with allegorical woman flanked by 2 men, Odd shares, <100 Shares and 100 Shares; and, a 1950-60’s trio of 2 specimens and one proof with a seated allegorical man holding a piston, and a similar appearing vignette on a Sperry Rand Corp Specimen; an uncut proof pair of <100 Shares, green, similar to the previous specimens; and a title and vignette proof. The Locomobile Company of America was a pioneering American automobile manufacturer founded in 1899, and known for its dedication to precision before the assembly-line era.
