Lyf-Rente by form of Tontine of twenty-four guilders Courant Geld, Typeset document filled out with handwriting, all in Dutch, S/N 10. Black text and black border. VF condition with a small pair of holes at center. Beautiful series of signatures on back. The Lyf-Rent Societeyt (or Société Viagére) was a joint-stock company based in Brussels selling life annuities financed by bonds. The co-founder was Herzog von Brabant (Duke of Brabant) whose coat of arms are at top center in black. The bond’s production number amounted to only 20 pieces at 400 guilder each. 10 were produced in English, and 10 were produced in Flemish, including this piece. Very Rare. (From the John E. Fine condition with archivally repaired holes at center, other damage to fold lines and margins. Large accounting list on back that appears to span well over 150 years. In the 17th century, Holland began increasing the country’s agricultural area with the embankment of tideland on the North Sea coast and part of the West Frisian Islands. Since it was expensive to create new agricultural lands for growing cereal grains, Holland raised funds by issuing bonds such as this. (From the John E. Papal Government Issued Certificate of interest-bearing capital borne by the Public Debt Fund, in Italian. Issued to a member of the Military Jerusalem Order (Militare Ordine Gerosolimitano) for an income of 210 Scudi. Black text and handwriting with black border, ornate Papal seal depicted at top center. Fine condition with a trio of vertical cuts at bottom margin.
