The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Co., was formally organized in 1828, in succession to the old Potowmack Co. The Rancocus Toll-Bridge was initiated in Philadelphia to build a covered bridge over Rancocus Creek, which is a tributary of the Delaware River. Signed by Joshua M. Wallace as company president. Wallace was a political leader and an important figure in New Jersey history. One Share I/U Capital Stock Certificate, S/N 965, Black text with thin black borders, Embossed company seal at top left. Fine-VF condition. The Lewisburg Bridge Company was organized in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1816, to form a covered bridge over the Susquehanna River. Fine condition with an archivally repaired split down the center fold line, Pair of very small holes at left and right, some wear along margins.
