Fine-VF condition with Washington, D.C. handstamp at top margin. Francis Elias Spinner ( January 21, 1802 _ December 31, 1890) was a U. S. Representative from New York from 1855 to 1861. Two weeks after Spinner left Congress, President Abraham Lincoln appointed him Treasurer of the United States. He served through the Johnson and Grant administrations from March 16, 1861, until his resignation on July 1, 1875. During the Civil War, he hired women as clerks because they weren’t subject to military service. He paid them well and defended their employment against critics. Issued to and signed by Hezekiah Hutchins, and is also signed by Caleb Strong as President and Jonathan Woodbridge as Proprietor’s Clerk. VF condition, especially for its age. Caleb Strong ( January 9, 1745 – November 7, 1819) was an American lawyer and politician who served as the sixth and tenth Governor of Massachusetts between 1800 and 1807, and again from 1812 until 1816. He assisted in drafting the Massachusetts State Constitution in 1779 and served as a state senator and on the Massachusetts Governor’s Council before being elected to the inaugural United States Senate. A leading member of the Massachusetts Federalist Party, his political success delayed the decline of the Federalists in Massachusetts. A successful Northampton lawyer prior to 1774, Strong was politically active in the rebel cause during the American Revolutionary War. He played an influential role in the development of the United States Constitution at the 1787 Philadelphia Convention, and, as a US Senator, in the passage of its 11th Amendment. POCs, Fine-VF condition, ABNC. Signed by F. J. Fisher as President. Fisher Body was an automobile coachbuilder, now part of General Motors. The company was founded on July 22, 1908 by Albert, Fred, and Charles Fisher of Detroit, Michigan. Their company became one of the top coachbuilders in the United States, building their signature factory, Fisher Body 21, in 1919. At the time, the company had more than 40 buildings housing 3,700,000 square feet of floor space. Prior to forming the company, Fred Fisher had built the body of the Cadillac Osceola at the Wilson Body Company. Starting in 1910, Fisher became the supplier of all closed bodies for Cadillac, and also built for Buick. General Motors bought 60% of the company in 1919 before integrating it entirely as an in-house coachbuilding division in 1926. Fisher purchased Fleetwood Metal Body in 1925. It was split from Ternstedt and recombined in 1968. Fisher was dissolved by being merged with other GM operations in 1984. �������������������������������������������������� Est. $180-280
