Commemorative envelope and stamps for the 1937 Anglo-American Goodwill Coronation Flight. The flight was from New York to London from May 8-14, 1937, and was done by famous pilot Dick Merrill, who is also named on the cover. This was recognized as the first commercial transatlantic round trip flight. The flight was done to commemorate the coronation of King George VI (father of current queen Elizabeth II) following the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII. Merrill also carried photos of the Hindenburg disaster, which occurred in New Jersey shortly before the flight. Footage from this flight was used to make the 1937 Monogram movie, Atlantic Flight. Merrill also earned the Harmon Trophy for 1937 for his achievement. (Ex. John E. Unused 1840 Mulready to-be-folded envelope, 1 Penny Postage with illustration - In very nice high grade condition with 4 tiny pinholes by the folds and hinge remnants. Unused Mulready (A26) to-be-folded envelope. Illustrated cover has postage rates printed with instructions, including colonial mailing instructions. measures approximately 22 x 20 cms. Mulready stationery describes the postal stationery letter sheets and envelopes that were introduced as part of the British Post Office postal reforms of 1840. They went on sale on 1 May 1840, and were valid for use from 6 May. Appears to have been mounted on cardstock. ����������������������������������������������������������� Est. $35-60 Ephemera - Autographs 628 628 Letters of Introduction for Louis Prang Trio, 1900 Trio of letters with envelopes, all dated from 1900, introducing the famed lithographer and engraver, Louis Prang, to prominent gentlemen upon his trip to Great Britain, as was custom. Mr. Henry George Jr., on behalf of Prang, wrote to three gentlemen in Britain describing Prang’s character and place in the American printing world. The letters are dated Ft. Hamilton, N.Y., April 11, 1900, and include the corresponding envelopes that are also written in George Jr’s hand. The recipients were: James C. Durant of Canterbury; Thomas Walker Esq. of Birmingham; and John Paul, editor of “The Single Tax,” of Glasgow. Attractive trio of Henry George Jr. and Louis Prang related items. Louis Prang (March 12, 1824 – June 15, 1909) was an American printer, lithographer, publisher, and Georgist. He is sometimes known as the “father of the American Christmas card”.
