Dominican Republic. 1988. 500 Pesos Oro, P-129 Unlisted Photographic Essay Model Proof of large format photograph, 12.5 by 5.5 inches, of back of banknote with the fortress vignette photograph pasted onto the photograph of the border and text. All in black with no underprint colors. Interesting and unique format. This photographic model was used in the banknote plate making process in which this photograph was shrunk down to the desired banknote size and then a photo engraving technique was used in which the metal plate was coated with a photo sensitive solution and the image on the plate was acid etched to create the printing plate.
