Banco Central de Bolivia, 1949 Lot of 4 Unadopted Essay Design Bromide Photo Proofs Bolivia. Group of 4 unusual bromide photo proofs representing 4 denominations of a proposed new series of banknotes for the Central Bank of Bolivia, created by Security Bank Note Company but evidently the designs were never put into production. The designs all have “5-16-49” in the top left corner. Matching front and backs have been stapled to each other, resembling a completed banknote, as prepared by SBN also in the desired banknote dimensions. Denominations are 500, 1000, 5000, 10000 Bolivianos, all with portraits at right on the face of Sucres, the backs all with different designs. Historic archival production items that are all that remain of this proposed and never issued banknote series. Dom Pedro II, nicknamed “the Magnanimous”, was the second and last monarch of the Empire of Brazil, reigning for over 58 years. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, the seventh child of Emperor Dom Pedro I of Brazil and Empress Dona Maria Leopoldina and thus a member of the Brazilian branch of the House of Braganza.
