Fine condition, NBN. Signed by Louisiana Secretary of State George E. Bovee, and Henry C. Warmoth as the Governor of the State of Louisiana. Warmoth was an American attorney and veteran Civil War officer in the Union Army who was elected governor and state representative of Louisiana. A Republican, he was 26 years old when elected as 23rd Governor of Louisiana, one of the youngest governors elected in United States history. Missouri, 1875. $1000 I/C 6% Coupon Bond #12, Black text with green border, Missouri State Seal at top center, Allegorical women at both top corners. POCs throughout, Coupons have been removed and adhered to a cardstock background. Fine condition with damage to bottom right corner. This bond was issued to pay damages to contractors for convict labor. Signed by Charles Henry Hardin as governor. He began public service in 1848 as an attorney for the Second Judicial Circuit, and then served in the Missouri House of Representatives. In 1860, he was elected to the Missouri Senate. As state senator, he attended Claiborne Fox Jackson’s secessionist meeting in Neosho, Missouri, and was the only senator present to vote against secession. In 1872, Hardin was again voted to the state senate. He served as 22nd Governor of Missouri between 1875 and 1877.
