Morris” Educational Note Engraver.400 Mexico and U.S., Historic proof of an extremely rare Mexican Banknote, ca.1880’s, 1000 Pesos, P-S248p proof printed on india paper mounted on thin white card with the central vignette removed and a smaller numeral counter on the lower right also removed. The back of the mounted proof has hand written “Private Property of Thomas F. Morris”. Besides being an extremely rare banknote in any form, the autograph on the back only enhances this rare note. Morris was intimately involved in the design and engraving of the 1896 Educational Silver Certificate Issue. he also engraved and designed stamps, banknotes for the U.S. and other countries. He has signed the back of this note and it is possible he was involved in the design and engraving of this lovely note.
