New York, NY and London, 1894. 1000 Pounds Sterling (Pre-printed denomination), Issued 2nd of Exchange. Black on light gray paper, No vignette, XF condition, “Incorporated 1867 - Capital $6,000,000” listed on top. Scarce bill of exchange with pre-printed denomination payable at their corresponding bank, “The Bank of Scotland, London” from their New York Branch. Rarely do you find denominations preprinted and this example was probably used for inter-bank bookkeeping, the same way that Clearing House certificates were used, and this certificate was issued right after the panic of 1893 in the U.S., so there might be a relationship, but this would require further research.
