Black print with no border or under tint, Louisiana coat of arms at top left corner, Specimen overprints, POC’s, VF-XF condition with minor toning along edges. Coupons included but are not attached. ABNC. This is the Plate bond in the Cox Railroad catalog, one of two found in the ABN Archives in 2002. Trio of Issued and Cancelled Capital Stock certificates each for a different number of shares. All have black print on black border with image of locomotive at top flanked by allegorical women and company title in italics and bold within the literature of the bond. Two out of Three have revenue stamp at bottom left of certificate, All are POC cancelled. All are in Fine-VF condition with minor toning. Toppan, Carpenter & Co. Signed by John Hopkins the major entrepreneur, abolitionist and philanthropist. He founded many organizations and institutions most notable Johns Hopkins University and Hospital. At the start of the Civil War one of the first campaigns was planned at his home. He continually gave money and use of his railroad to the Union Army.
