Lot of 3, I/U stock certificates, All are attached on the left border where they were possibly part of a legal matter, Includes 1837, Issued in Athens, GA. 12 Shares, Small steam train on top left, Litho printing; 1842, issued in Athens, GA., 1 2/10ths Shares, Toned, chips off of top right margin, attractive, UBSH; and 1848, issued in Augusta, GA. 16 1/2 Shares, Similar design, different engraved issue location, UBSH, all made out to the same person. Attached by wax on left in 3 small areas that could be separated if desired. The 1837 stock certificate is R-7 rarity and the first that we have offered in auction. Georgia, 1870. $1000 I/U 7% Coupon Bond #529, Black text with black border and blue underprint, Small illustrated railroad scene at top. Fine condition with toning along center fold line. Includes Imprinted Revenues 5 Cents, RN-P5 and 50 Cents, RN-V4 on the right side of the bond face. The Macon and Brunswick Railroad ran from Macon, Georgia to Brunswick, Georgia. Its construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, only opening in its entirety in December of 1869. Signed by Colonel George H. Hazlehurst as president, who was active during the Civil War and helped plan the defenses of Vicksburg. A civil engineer and prominent figure in the southern railroad industry, Hazlehurst, Georgia is named in his honor. �������������� Est. $120-200
