Only known as a specimen in Cox. Extremely rare stock certificate. The Metropolitan Street Railway was a street railway company in the U.S state of New York. It should be noted that although the official name was “Metropolitan Street Railway,” it has been described in a number of places as “Metropolitan Street Railroad. It owned and operated a system in Manhattan. The company was formed on November 29, 1893 through the merger of the Broadway Surface Railroad, South Ferry Railroad, and Houston, West Street and Pavonia Ferry Railroad. Through the Houston, West Street and Pavonia Ferry Railroad. Rare early New York subway related bond.
