This is the only example found in the ABN archives and the only one ever available. Harvey as president, the father of the elevated railroads. 728 728 West Side Elevated (Patented) Railway Co., 1869 I/U Stock Certificate Signed by C.T. Harvey. New York, NY. October 19, 1869, 25 Shares, I/U, Green, Ornate scene of one man operated railroad car that looks similar to an automobile traveling above the fray . S/N 121, In small print over the vignette “Photographic View, First Trial Trip of Inventor December 1867”. 25 cents adhesive USIR Revenue stamp lower left. VF condition. Signed by Charles T. Harvey as president, the father of the elevated railroads, who had invented a plan for the propulsion of trains on an elevated structure by cables operated by steam power furnished by stationary engines along the route. In the clash of rival underground and elevated schemes, he contemplated a railroad elevated on pillars erected at the sidewalk line and operated by cars propelled by cables driven by power from stationary steam engines.
