Includes 1854, The Farmers’ &Merchants Bank of Memphis, $5 (2), one with red underprint, the second with blue, opened in 1835 and failed in 1847. It was revived and failed again in 1854. Both The Farmer’s & Merchants Bank of Hartford, CT note and The Village Bank of Smithfield, RI note are altered versions of the Memphis note.
