Introduction to the Sale Foreword On behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, I would like to personally welcome you to our 55th auction we have held over the last 12 years. We are excited to offer over 1100 lots of rare and desirable U.S., Chinese & Worldwide Banknotes, Scripophily, Coins, Historic Ephemera, and Security Printing Ephemera. We will be holding the auction from our new offices in River Edge, New Jersey. Included in the auction are numerous rare and desirable items consigned from numerous estates and longtime collections with many having never been offered previously at auction. Session 1 will include 375 lots of world banknotes and scripophily including many highlights such as 2 different Hong Kong, Mercantile Bank of India, 1930 and 1937 rarities; a Shanghai Branch issue, International Banking Corporation, $100 Specimen Banknote rarity; 80 lots of Chinese banknotes including many rare issues; an exciting quartet of Mexico, Bono de Caja, Circulating Bond specimens; a Group of 12 Imperial Russian Government 1915 Specimen “OBRASETZ” bonds from 500 to 25,000 Rubles; a French, Caisse d’Escompte, 1790 Issue, 200 Livres, A-24 Red printing Rarity; Additional Selections from the John E. Herzog collection of scripophily, banknotes and numismatic ephemera and hundreds of additional desirable notes for every level of collector, specialist or dealer. In Session 2, we are excited to offer Part 1 of the Highlands Collection of New Jersey Scrip notes and Obsolete Banknotes put together over the last 40 years by a passionate collector of New Jersey Obsolete banknotes. A wonderful Central Bank of Brooklyn, 1850’s Uncut “Santa Claus” Proof Sheet of 4 Notes will be offered. We will also have a very desirable selection of Security Printing Ephemera including many items that have been off the market for decades. Session 3 will include over 500 lots of U.S. and world scripophily featuring the Stephen Beck Collection of Railroad Bonds and Shares put together over the last 40 years and featuring many extremely rare if not unique issued, specimen and proof railroads. Hundreds of additional stocks and bonds featuring a wide variety of topics are also included.
