Lot includes 50 Centavos, 1929, KM-15, XF; 25 Centavos, 1929, KM-14, VF; and 25 Centavos, 1930, KM-14, VF. All coins were struck in the Philadelphia Mint, with a low mintage of 20,000 pieces for each in this trio. Est. $120-180 327 328 Nicaragua. 1950-1974. Trio of FSLN Countermarked Coins. Nicaragua. Lot includes 25 Centavos, 1974, About VF; 20 Centavos, 1950, VF; and 10 Centavos, 1965, XF. All three coins are counter stamped with “FSLN”. The Sandinista Junta of National Reconstruction (in Spanish: Frente Sandinista de Liberaci„n Nacional) counter stamped Nicaragua’s circulating coins (as well as some that were out-of-circulationi) with the inscription “FSLN”. This counterstamp was first applied in 1979, the FSLN’s first known attempt to circu- late revolutionary coinage. The letters “FSLN” appear within a rectangle on the obverse of all counter stamped coins. 3 pieces. Est. $120-180 328 329 Nicaragua. 1954. Pair of Anastasio Somoza Medals. Nicaragua. Lot includes two identical medals, featuring Anastasio Somoza. 43.7mm. Military busy of Somoza, name above, title below. Reverse features equestrian statue of Somoza, legend around, date in Roman numeral below. This is the statue that was famously destroyed by Sandi- nista sympathizers in 1979. Very high relief.
