One of the earliest public companies in Napa. Berringer was a pioneer wine maker, his presence is still felt today. A popular brewery starting in 1857, Dick Brothers Brewery was founded by three brothers: Matthew, John, and Jacob Dick. At the business’s peak, 70,000 barrels of beer would be produced and shipped around the Midwest, making Dick Brothers, one of the largest beer brands in the country. Odd Shares Capital Stock Specimen Certificate, Black print on large green border and under tint, Company title at top with portrait of woman at bottom, POC’s along bottom, VF-XF condition, RBNC. Harry Davis was one of the country’s most successful theatrical managers from the 1890s to 1920s. He and his partner John Harris opened the world first movie theatres in Pittsburgh coining the name Nickelodeon. Davis built and managed several large venues in Pittsburgh including the Million Dollar Grand that became the Warner Theatre. He controlled all of the leading theaters in Pittsburgh, except for the Nixon, until 1927. A master showman he produced and booked vaudeville shows, musicals, and plays. Davis formed several nationally recognized acting companies that worked at the dozen theatres that he managed.
