Each lot includes an intaglio printed die proof in brown of the denomination in French; a photo proof of the face design with title and denomination; and a hand drawn note with the denomination and outline of where design would be in pencil. Unfortunately, the design never got farther then this as far as we know. Unique and intriguing offering from this rare Chinese Foreign Bank. 92 92 Banque Industrielle de Chine, 1916, $1 and $5 Proof and Mockup Design Model Quintet. China. Lot of 5 Essay Proofs and mockup designs for $1 and $5 denomination notes. Included is an intaglio printed die proof in blue for the denominations for $1 and $5 notes in French text with 1916 approval signature; 2 different photo proofs of the face design with titles and denominations with place name “YUNNANFOU” on the bottom for the $1 and $5 notes; and two hand drawn notes with denomination and outline of where design would be in pencil, pen and ink printed on off white paper mounted on large thin card of the $1 and $5 denominations. All are PCGS graded between Choice AU 55 to uncirculated 62. Rare if not unique production material used in the design and development of this very rare foreign bank with unlisted location.
