Charles Bruning Co., Inc., a Delaware-chartered corporation, traces its origins to Danish immigrant Charles Bruning (1866–1931), who set up his own blueprinting company in Manhattan in 1897, which was incorporated as the New York Blue Print Paper Company in 1901. Around 1920 he purchased the American Blue Print Company of Chicago, and the combined firms became known as the Charles Bruning Company, Inc. Growth accelerated in the late 1920s after the firm introduced diazotype printing to the U.S., the chemical process that let whiteprints largely replace traditional blueprints for architectural and engineering drawings. Through the 1950s and 1960s, Bruning stood among America’s leading suppliers of reprographic equipment, drafting instruments, and specialty paper, before merging into Addressograph-Multigraph in 1963. Est. $140-200 New York 1274 1274NY. East Rockaway Improvement Co., incorporated in New York in 1913, reflects the wave of local development corporations that sprang up on Long Island’s South Shore in the early 20th century. East Rockaway, a village in Nassau County incorporated in 1900, was, by the 1910s, drawing steady residential and commercial growth as Long Island Rail Road service and improving roads made the area increasingly accessible from New York City. Companies bearing names like “Improvement Co.” typically financed local infrastructure, subdivided building lots, or developed waterfront and village properties. Signed by Martin Joseph as president, this certificate stands as a tangible relic of the small-scale civic and real estate enterprise that shaped Long Island’s growing suburban communities. Est. $90-140 Scripophily - Social, Fraternal, Political & Religious Organizations California 1275 1275 CA.
