Poulsen Wireless Corporation, chartered in Arizona in 1919, traces its roots to the pioneering wave of American radio technology. Though incorporated under an Arizona charter, the company’s true home was San Francisco, where it operated a wireless transmitting station near Ocean Beach. The venture descended from Cyril Elwell’s 1909 licensing of Danish inventor Valdemar Poulsen’s arc transmission system, which grew into the Poulsen Wireless Telephone & Telegraph Co. and, by 1911, was largely absorbed into the Federal Telegraph Company under Beach Thompson, who took over the company and renamed it the Federal Telegraph Company. This certificate, signed by Thompson as president, represents a residual entity from that same Poulsen arc-wireless lineage, one of the formative chapters of early American radio. Est. $100-200 New York 1067 1067NY.
