Introduction to the Sale Foreword On behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our 117th auction, pre- sented in two sessions on September 30th, 2026. This 535-lot sale spans U.S. and worldwide banknotes, world and U.S. coins, scripophily, historic and security printing ephemera, checks, drafts and exchanges, and Confederate and fractional currency, with strength running deep across nearly every category. As always, a significant number of lots appear at public auction for the first time. The coin session is anchored by a strong run of U.S. gold, led by a 1908 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle in CAC MS 63 Uncirculated (Lot 184, Est. $4,500-6,000) and a 1924 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle in CAC MS 64 Uncirculated(Lot 187, Est. $4,500-6,000), alongside a scarcer 1894-S Liberty Head Double Eagle in CAC AU 58 (Lot 183, Est. $4,500-6,000). Silver highlights include an 1880-CC Morgan Dollar from the GSA Treasure hoard, CAC graded MS 65 (Lot 169, Est. $1,500-2,500), and a 1903 $1 McKinley Louisiana Purchase Gold Dollar in PCGS/NGC MS 63 with CAC approval (Lot 162, Est. $400-450). On the U.S. paper money side, a $10 1929 Type 1 National Currency note from the First National Bank of Alexis, Illinois leads the offering (Lot 316, Est. $7,000-10,000). Large and small type highlights include a Chicago 1934 $500 Federal Reserve Note in PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ (Lot 335, Est. $5,000-7,500), a New York 1934A $1,000 Federal Reserve Note in PMG Choice Very Fine 35 (Lot 344, Est. $3,500-5,000), a Richmond 1928 $500 Federal Reserve Note in PCGS Very Fine 30 (Lot 333, Est. $3,000-5,000), and an 1882 $100 Gold Certificate in PCGS Very Fine 20 (Lot 271, Est. $1,600-3,000). Colonial-era material is represented by a Pennsylvania Continental Currency $30 note of May 10, 1775 (Lot 193, Est. $1,750-2,500). Beyond coins and paper money, the sale offers deep runs of foreign banknotes, historic and security printing ephemera, checks, drafts and exchanges, and U.S. and world scripophily, rounding out a sale with something for nearly every area of the hobby.
