Includes 4 war-time savings bonds (“Senji Chochiku Saiken”), 5th series, issued by Nippon Kangyo Bank (Hypothec Bank of Japan), dated Showa 17, October (1942), 50 Yen denomination, with printed images of military aircraft, tanks, and warships, each bearing an individual serial number; and 1 large folding propaganda broadside titled “The Youth of China Fully Support the Just Struggle of the Japanese People and Youth Against the Japan-U.S. Military Alliance,” published by the All-China Youth Federation, illustrated with photographs of 1960 anti-Security Treaty demonstrations in Japan. Booklet titled “Words Are Weapons”, prepared by the U.S. Office of War Information, Psychological Warfare Team, APO 465, explaining the development and use of aerial propaganda leaflets in the Burma and Thailand theaters. There are six leaflets in the folder. Lot includes the instructional booklet along with a group of original multilingual propaganda leaflets in Thai and Burmese as referenced within the publication. Illustrated throughout with aircraft, leaflet distribution scenes, and examples of psychological warfare materials used against Japanese forces and in occupied territories. Restricted publication. Western BNC, 1913 I/C Stock Certificate, with ca.1900-20’s WBNC Micro Printed Declaration of Independence Business Card. Chicago, Illinois. 1913, 20 Shares I/C Capital Stock Certificate for the Western Bank Note & Engraving Company, Low Serial #2, brown border and background with ornate design; issued to and signed by D.E. Woodhull, then president of the American Bank Note Company. Embossed corporate seal at lower left, bold printed company title at top, signed by officers as president and secretary. VF condition, Printed by American Bank Note Company, New York. Lot also includes a matching Western Bank Note Company Business Card with a micro-engraving of the Declaration of Independence that was engraved in 1840, the company building is on the front, WBNC-ABNC. Woodhull was First Vice President of ABNC in 1913. Western Bank Note Company, founded in Chicago in the mid-19th century, was acquired by the American Bank Note Company (ABNC) in 1901.
