U.S. & Canada, ND (ca.1980-90s). Uncut Sheet of 12 100 denomination, P-Unlisted, Polymer Banknotes similar to Tyvek polymer material, Red brown on light green undertint, Obverse has ocean oil well drilling platformwith ornate designs and Reverse is m/c, CU to Gem Uncirculated condition. DuraNote polymer material was developed as part of a research project by Mobil Oil in the late 1980s to early 1990s. Different countries including the U.S., Canada, England, Venezuela, Mexico and others had there banknotes printed using this material to test it and see if it could be a useful paper alternative. Unfortunately, Mobil Oil merged with Exxon Oil and the project was halted. Banknotes from Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and Great Britain are the only countries that as of now, have examples of their notes printed on this polymer paper, all are extremely rare and desirable. ������������������������������������������������������������ Est. $230-350 Ephemera - Stocks, Coins, Checks & Oddments 383 383 USA & Canada. Lot of financial ephemera including 6 issued stock certificates of The Rhode Island Public Service Co. representing denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, and 500 shares, printed with ornate colored borders and detailed corporate text; a Wireless Telegraph Co. of Canada, Ltd. issued stock certificate dated July 25, 1923; an engraved portrait proof print likely related to security printing production; and a group of obsolete U.S. banknotes, checks, and related paper currency items, including examples from The Bank of the U.S., Presidents Bank, Bridgeport National Bank, and other 19th century financial institutions, along with a Series 1928 $5 Federal Reserve Note. Items show varying degrees of wear, folds, and aging consistent with circulated financial documents and early security printing material.
