Each card has portraits of American figures, including: Chirstopher Columbus, a Native American Chief, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and George Friedrich Handel (composer who was chosen to symbolize the expositions themes of water, architecture, and music). Front of certificate shows the state arms and the reverse of the certificate has the engraving information. Mint condition. Lot of 3 engraved vignette proofs featuring classic American patriotic imagery, including a large Liberty figure holding U.S. shield and flag with eagle at her side, along with two separate eagle motifs—one with outstretched wings over “E Pluribus Unum” banner and another set against a shield of stars. All are printed in black on large format paper with wide margins, indicative of archival or presentation strikes rather than issued notes. Designs reflect traditional banknote engraving themes used on U.S. currency and securities. Condition ranges from VF to XF with light toning and minor handling. (3).
