Coins are struck in .900 fine silver, each weighing 26.73 grams (0.4019 troy oz) with a 30.6 mm diameter. ASW 0.3617 troy oz per coin, totaling 2.17 troy oz of .999 silver with a silver melt of $173 with silver at $80 ounce. Produced by the United States Mint. (6). According to the legend, the buffalo used as a model for this coin was “Black Diamond” (1893-1915), a famous buffalo at the Central Park zoo in New York City.
