Lot of 6 sets of 5 notes each (30 notes) Includes 75 Pfennig Notgeld notes issued for the German Hanseatic Colonial Memorial Day held in Hamburg and Bremen. The series promotes remembrance of Germany’s former overseas colonies and features portraits of O. v. Bismarck, Dr. Carl Peters, H. von Wissmann, A. Lüderitz, and Carl Woermann, with the inscription “Remember our Colonies.” The colorful reverses display a map of Africa highlighting former German colonial territories including Togo, Cameroon, German East Africa, and German South West Africa. Printed in multicolor with tropical and botanical design elements. Includes 5 examples of each of the 5 notes in the series. Conditions range from VF to XF condition. (30). Designs feature city views, historic buildings, coats of arms, allegorical figures, and narrative illustrated scenes, Numerous town issues and design varieties are represented throughout the group.
