An issued-unused bond of the Boston, Hartford and Erie Railroad Company, dated 1867, representing financing for one of the most ambitious and ultimately ill-fated railroad expansion schemes in post–Civil War New England. The bond is attractively engraved with period security printing, bearing the company title prominently across the face, with printed bond text and spaces for interest coupons (as issued).
