Printed in black with a decorative border; left vignette of allegorical female figures; dramatic central vignette of a Native American and a settler with agricultural products and a river steamboat in the background; hand-signed by the cashier and president, dated May 21, 1845, with manuscript entries; chartered in Natchez during the cotton boom to provide capital and credit to planters and merchants in the heart of the cotton belt; like many Southern antebellum banks it became closely tied to the volatile cotton economy and land speculation and later suffered in the financial turmoil of the 1830s and 1840s; the condition ranges from Choice Fine to VF condition or better. ������ Est. $200-300 New Jersey 541 541 NJ.
