His education there was cut short by the Revolutionary War, but during his time at the school he became deeply involved in political debate, publishing pamphlets that defended the Patriot cause and established his reputation as a sharp thinker. Although he did not graduate, Columbia regards him as one of its most distinguished early alumni, highlighting his role as a Founding Father, co-author of the Federalist Papers, and the nation’s first Secretary of the Treasury. His years at King’s College helped lay the intellectual foundation for his later influence on American political and financial institutions, cementing his legacy as a central figure in both Columbia’s history and that of the United States.
