Several examples show manuscript entries, endorsements, revenue stamps, cancellations, and other period annotations. The group includes multiple Volunteer Soldiers’ Family Aid Fund certificates issued by the City of New York; a Philadelphia municipal loan certificate; a group of United States Internal Revenue $5 stamp tax documents; bank stock certificates from institutions such as Third National Bank of Sedalia, First National Bank of Pomona, Bogata National Bank (Texas), and Citizens Bank; a Canal Department, State of New York loan document; and a Wyoming Land and Trust Company stock certificate, among others. Together, the items illustrate wartime relief financing, post-war municipal debt, early national and regional banking, and the evolution of American financial documentation.
