Certificate is made out to and signed by John Jacob Astor IV. John Jacob Astor IV (1864 to 1912) was a prominent American businessman, real estate developer, inventor, and member of the influential Astor family fortune. He expanded the family’s New York real estate holdings, invested in hotels and utilities, and held several patents, including work related to mechanical and electrical devices.
