Lot of 13 Oil and Petroleum Company Stock Certificates representing early western oil exploration and speculative development, Includes: Wyoming Territory (Inc. in Nebraska). 1889, (/U, No-Wood River Oil Company (Wyoming); ca.1860s, U/U, Oil Creek Petroleum Company, Humboldt County, California (2 examples); and, Pinal Oil Company, Arizona (10 examples). The group reflects the surge of small- oil ventures formed during the early 20th-century petroleum boom in the American West. Certificates feature engraved oil-field vignettes with derricks, storage tanks, and frontier imagery, along with ornate borders and corporate seals typical of speculative oil issues of the period. Some certificates are issued with completed manuscript details and signatures, while others appear unissued, remaining blank in shareholder and date fields. Conditions range from VG to XF overall, with expected folds, light toning, and handling consistent with age. (13). Issued to and Signed by Henry M. Teller as president and endorsed by him on the back (later U.S. Senator from Colorado and U.S. Secretary of the Interior). Teller was a central figure in Colorado’s territorial politics and a key advocate for western railroad expansion.
