Lot of 17 Political and Satirical fantasy notes produced to mock Canadian economic policies and political figures of the mid- 20th century. Includes issues referencing John Diefenbaker, Lester B. Pearson, and the New Democratic Party, among others. Designs feature humorous denominations such as the “92½¢” and “One Diefendollar,” and slogans like “A 100% Stable Canadian Dollar,” “Bank of Kuch,” and “Help Us Straighten Up Canada.” Printed in a variety of styles and colors, including offset and lithographic methods on differing paper stocks. Includes additional material such as a few Northern Trust Co. (Philadelphia, ca. 1910s) check stubs, grain receipts, ledgers, and envelopes from Colorado Grain, Milling & Feed Dealers Association and Stevenson & Son, Kansas City. A fine example of mid-20th-century agricultural business finance from the Great Plains region. Conditions range VG to XF. (Approx. 200+). Lot of 350+ Bank Checks and Company Drafts, a majority of the checks and drafts are from Colorado, Willard Farmers Grain Co., (164 drafts, originally from Sterling, CO., but crossed out and Willard, CO. written instead); First National Bank of Hancock, NY; Third National Bank of New York; Second National Bank of Boston; Hanover National Bank; and Yellow Aster Mining & Milling Co., among others. Also features later corporate checks such as Davis Motors, Inc. and Royal Crown Cola advertising examples. Most are issued and cancelled, showing a variety of imprints, revenue stamps, and typed or handwritten entries. Conditions range from Good to Uncirculated overall, some with folds or ink toning typical for the period. (350+).
