The Duck River Valley Narrow Gauge Railroad Company was incorporated in Tennessee in the 1870s to build and operate a short line serving communities along the Duck River. Part of the nationwide narrow-gauge railroad movement, it aimed to provide affordable regional transport for agricultural and timber products. Chartered during the post-Civil War reconstruction era, the line represented local economic optimism and development. The 1874 certificate, featuring an early locomotive vignette, is an attractive relic of southern railroad expansion. It is a listed railroad in Cox, but no images of an issued certificate have been seen. Extremely rare and first time we have offered an example of this company. Est. $300-500
