Issued jointly by the Government of Japan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), this 1981 bond reflects Japan’s growing leadership role in regional development financing during the late 20th century. Following its postwar economic resurgence, Japan became one of the ADB’s largest contributors, using co-financed bond issues like this to support infrastructure, industrial modernization, and poverty-reduction projects throughout Asia.
