Highlights include 6 Imprinted revenue drafts and check including RN- B, C, G, and X examples; an 1859, Mohawk Valley Bank, printed by D&H; an 1860s, U.S. Army Allotment pay check, in green and black; an 1884, MA. Asylum for the Chronic Insane with Invoice; Other examples include checks from Sather & Co. Bankers (San Francisco), Canal National Bank (Portland, Maine), Geo. Washington Bank (New York), People’s National Bank (Rock Island, Illinois), Bullion and Exchange Bank (Carson City, Nevada), and Climax Manufacturing Co. (Corry, Pennsylvania) among others. Lot of 21 early New York financial documents, including Treasurer of the City of New York at the Mechanics’ Bank, 1855, pair of I/C checks signed by then-Mayor Fernando Wood, printed in red on blue-violet paper with POCs at center; and United States Navy Yard (Brooklyn Navy Yard), 1849–58, group of 19 issued and unissued military paychecks made out to various sailors. The Navy Yard, established in 1801, was where the famed Civil War ironclad USS Monitor was completed and commissioned and is now known as Greenpoint, Brooklyn, directly across from the midtown-Eastside of Manhattan.
