Archives International Auctions - Sale 107 46 October 29, 2025 Archives International Auctions www.archivesinternational.com U.S. Large Type - Federal Reserve Notes 208 208 U.S., F.R.N., $5,000, Series of 1934, Fr.#2221-K, Federal Reserve Note, Dallas, Dallas, Texas. $5000. Series of 1934. Federal Reserve Note. Fr.#2221-K (KA Block). Serial Number K00000089A, pp E. Portrait of James Madison at center; signatures of Julian | Morgenthau. An extremely attractive and scarce example of this high-denomination issue from the Dallas District, one of the tougher districts to obtain. PMG graded Choice Very Fine 35, with a notation of Restoration (which was professionally restored on the top left corner), with the note displaying excellent color, crisp paper, and sharp detail, offering the eye appeal of an XF example. The $5000 denomination was originally issued for interbank and high-value commercial transactions rather than public circulation, and few were saved once large denominations were retired from use in 1969. Today, surviving examples are prized as symbols of American financial history and as some of the most impressive notes in U.S. currency collecting, with the Dallas district notes ranking among the scarcer issues in the series. Est. $160,000-180,000
