Bond is signed by General George Brinton McClellan (December 3, 1826 – October 29, 1885). McClellan was a West Point–trained officer, Mexican–AmericanWar veteran, and early Civil War Union general who organized and led the Army of the Potomac. Known for his exceptional skill in training and organizing troops, he built the Union’s main army into a disciplined and well-equipped force but was criticized for his cautious approach and reluctance to engage decisively, most notably during the Peninsula Campaign and after the Battle of Antietam. Removed from command by President Lincoln in 1862, McClellan ran unsuccessfully as the Democratic nominee for president in 1864 before serving as governor of New Jersey from 1878 to 1881. His legacy remains that of a brilliant organizer but an overly cautious battlefield commander. Est. $1,200-1,800 North Carolina 554 554 NC.
